Rusty Surfboards, founded by iconic shaper Rusty Preisendorfer, is a leader in the surfboard industry, renowned for its innovation and quality. With over 35 years of expertise, Rusty Surfboards offers a diverse range of boards that cater to all skill levels, from beginners to professional surfers.
Each surfboard is meticulously crafted using cutting-edge technology and high-performance materials, ensuring durability and superior performance in the water.
The Project
Taking a deep dive into Rusty’s business goals, We worked in partnership with the brand to shape their online vision. Putting the customer front and centre, the site had to cater to beginners looking for a board off the peg and pros wanting a custom setup.
The result is a cutting-edge Shopify site complete with an integrated custom board builder and surfboard volume calculator.
UX Design for technical products
One of Rusty’s point of difference is the option to customise ever aspect of your own board. We integrated Shape 3D’s board builder in a custom product page experience that allows customers to either choose in-stock models or to shape their own.
In addition, we were asked to visualise sales person knowledge in a way that customers can quickly gauge if a product is suitable or not.
